Wednesday 13.09.2017, Crossroad, Mechelen
You’re kindly invited to the next BAEA Architecture Café, at Crossroad, Mechelen on Wednesday September 13th.
The presentation by Niek de Visscher – founder and CEO of Kamitsu, an Antwerp-based strategic design and architecture consultancy – will make a well-educated attempt at answering the question “Design thinking, closing the gap for enterprise architecture?”
The gap refers to the (perceived) disconnect between the traditional output of enterprise architecture and “what the business really needs”. Enterprise architects are still being told that they deliver too slow, that their work is difficult to understand and that it doesn’t relate enough to the real business challenges opposed. (btw: you should absolutely join us on September 13 if you do not agree with this statement!)
In his presentation, Niek proposes a practical user-oriented EA-process based on the design thinking principles. In business, problems most commonly are solved by conventional analysis which is linear most of the time (what you learn during an MBA), while designers solve problems by synthesis which is a process of divergence, convergence and prototyping – and back, thus cyclical (what you learn at design school).
There will be plenty of time to discuss the topic during the presentation and afterwards during the networking-drink.
